Although short, there are some pretty major takeaways. Obviously, there’s the logo and a flash of Task Force 141, which is no doubt exciting for fans. Many were also quick to notice a set of coordinates in the background, and internet sleuths wasted no time looking into them.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 – Off to Singapore

It should be taken with a grain of salt, of course, as the coordinates in the video are hard to exactly see. With this in mind, various online fans have deduced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will spend some time in Singapore thanks to the coordinates. The big question, of course, is why. Modern Warfare’s ending sees Captain Price forming Task Force 141 to prepare against Zakhaev, with files building hype for several characters like Soap and Ghost. None of them has a direct connection to Singapore.

Singapore HAS appeared in other Call of Duty games before, but primarily that’s appearances or references in Black Ops 2 – 4. In other words, this appears to be something brand new for this part of the franchise, and that’s a good thing. Modern Warfare is a reboot after all, and so its sequel will be as well. New faces are returning, including the aforementioned Zakhaev, but there will likely be new ones, new settings, and perhaps a plot that unfolds much differently than the original.

Luckily, fans probably won’t have to wait long to find out more. Recent entries in the franchise, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard, have been unveiled much later in the year compared to previous entries. This was probably due to a mixture of Call of Duty: Warzone’s relevancy, as well as the previous year’s game, and the COVID-19 pandemic. Usually, games are revealed in April or May, and this teaser suggests more info will be out before May is done. It’s still possible the full Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 reveal is still later than usual, but that would make this tease very unusual.

More reliably, Call of Duty games are typically released between the end of October and the middle of November. For those ready to suit up as Task Force 141 again, it’s worth keeping an eye on this period.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is in development.
