The 3V3 Gunfight Snipers Only mode is known for being popular among fans of sniper-style play, but the mode was removed from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s playlists in the March 3 patch and was replaced with 3v3 Gunfight. At the time, developer Infinity Ward said the decision was made to add more Gunfight variants to Season 2. Now, 3v3 Gunfight Snipers Only is back, after fans took to Reddit and the Activision Support blog to ask for the mode’s return.

But 3V3 Gunfight Snipers Only is not all fans have to look forward too in the next update. Reinfected Ground War is also making a return, this time on bigger maps. The multiplayer party favorite sees players fighting to survive waves of enemies until a timer runs out. The Shoot the Ship and Cranked playlists are returning as well.
Both playlists encourage players to engage in exhilarating close-quarter combat. The smaller maps on these playlists mean more frequent engagements, which players can take advantage of to rack up XP and complete Season’s Officer Challenges.
The updates for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare coincide with the update for Warzone. The Warzone updates include a variety of featuring playlists and new items, including boosts to the Duos Stimulus playlist and a bundle featuring racing-themed weapons. The new content and playlists should hold fans over until Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Season 5, which is expected to arrive shortly after Season 4 ends on August 4. Many expect Season 5 to come with a slew of new weapons and maps, as previous seasonal updates have in the past.
Dataminers recently discovered evidence that Infinity Ward and Activision are planning to use Season 5 to bridge the gap between the universes of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Black Ops in preparation for the latter’s rumored upcoming reboot. Until then, fans can pass the time by quick scoping their friends in 3V3 Gunfight Snipers or braving the hoards in Reinfected Ground War.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
