Infinity Ward’s Co-Design Director of Multiplayer Joe Cecot confirmed the news over Twitter yesterday while responding to a fan.

Hardhat was originally featured in 2011’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and quickly became a fan-favorite. When the developer confirmed the map was coming to 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, many fans got excited even though we didn’t know exactly when it was set to come out.
While we don’t know exactly this “midseason update” will drop, it can be inferred that it’ll be coming sometime within the next week or two, due to the fact that there’s only about a month left of the current season. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has been getting a pretty steady flow of content ever since Season 3 first dropped, including the addition of new Operators, but this would probably be the largest piece of content we’ve gotten in a while.
While the game is certainly not struggling by any means, the addition of such a fan-favorite map would give more players a reason to return to the game’s standard multiplayer. According to the developer, the game’s battle royale mode Call of Duty: Warzone is doing insanely well, but we don’t really know how the rest of the game, including the multiplayer, is doing when it comes to player counts.
It’ll also be interesting to see what changes Infinity Ward makes to the map. Ever since the developer started releasing remakes of old maps, fans have noticed that there have been some changes made to each of them, with new pathways and sections being added here or there. While some hardcore purist fans may have a problem with it, it’s certainly hard to complain when the maps are coming free of charge.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
