Based on the roadmap Infinity Ward released, on day one, Modern Warfare will be receiving two multiplayer maps, a map for Ground War, at least one Gunfight map, two multiplayer modes, an operator, and two weapons. Some of this content is brand new to the Call of Duty series, though other introductions are remastered favorites.

Among the returning crowd is the multiplayer map Rust, perhaps best known for its aptitude at hosting one versus one sniper duels. Despite being a fan-favorite Call of Duty map, Rust hasn’t seen a true return to the main series since Modern Warfare 2 released over a decade ago. While it seems to have undergone some cosmetic and layout changes, its architecture remains easily recognizable. The other multiplayer map, Atlas Superstore, is a new map set in a large warehouse-looking store, which previously appeared in the Modern Warfare Spec Ops mission titled Operation Paladin.

For the massive team battle mode, Ground War, the map Zhokov Boneyard is being added, set in the familiar locale of an airplane boneyard. Meanwhile, the much smaller in scale mode Gunfight will be receiving a map called Bazaar, which takes place in a small marketplace.

Gunfight will also be receiving a tournament mode, in which thirty-two teams of two will compete in a tournament bracket for rewards. Another mode is the Call of Duty League Ruleset Playlist, which plays like a competitive Call of Duty game. As well, the Grau 5.56, a variant of Black Ops 2’s SWAT-556 will be added, along with the Striker 45 in Modern Warfare.

One last addition, another treat for Modern Warfare 2 fans, is that Simon “Ghost” Riley will be making his return as a new operator. Along with him will be a slew of content, which should hopefully be enough to make Modern Warfare’s community happy.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is currently available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
