It’s unclear exactly when a fix for the MW stat reset bug will be released, but Infinity Ward is “actively working” on a fix. Those impacted by the bug should note that they can keep playing Modern Warfare as usual, but that there’s a chance that their stats will reset to what they were prior to downloading the update. Infinity Ward has promised that it will release another update on the matter as soon as it has more information.

In the meantime, Modern Warfare fans should know that while the bug has impacted their stats, it doesn’t actually do anything to their progression. This means that players retain their rank, XP they’ve earned, their Battle Pass tiers, weapon progression, and more. So while some may still be upset that their stats are off, at least they don’t have to restart the game in any significant way.

No timetable has been released in regards to when the Modern Warfare stat reset bug may be fixed. However, there are some big updates on the horizon for the game, and it’s possible that the bug fix will be combined with one of them. For example, Modern Warfare Season One is ending in a few weeks, and Season Two is expected to follow not long after. It’s expected that Season Two will be a sizable content drop, and one has to imagine that it will include at least some bug fixes, if not the stat reset bug fix.

As for what else Modern Warfare Season Two may entail, that remains to be seen. Rumors and leaks have long suggested that there are more classic Call of Duty maps on the way for the game, and it’s quite possible that some of these maps will be added in the Modern Warfare Season Two update. Fans will just have to wait for next month to find out more.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
