In a since-deleted Reddit thread, which was saved by Dexerto, a number of fans complained about Ghost’s new look in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The main complaint from fans seems to be that Ghost’s new mask is unrealistic for a military situation, whereas his previously look was “practical and plausible.” Reddit user Divulci said that Ghost’s new look in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare as follows: “He looks like he carved the mask out of one of those cheap plastic Halloween skeletons you put in the yard.”

With Modern Warfare Season 2 set to kick off in just a couple of days on February 11, it doesn’t seem as though Infinity Ward really has the time to change the character’s appearance. However, it’s possible that there will be alternate skins available for players to unlock that allow them to make Ghost look more in-line with his classic appearance.

This isn’t the first time that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has been criticized for changing content from past games. Infinity Ward made a number of subtle changes to the Call of Duty 4 map Crash when it brought it into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, with the backlash severe enough that fans outright rejected its dedicated 24/7 playlist. The Crash 24/7 playlist was only in the game for a couple of days before it was pulled and replaced by the more popular Shoot House 24/7.

While some may be disappointed by Ghost’s appearance in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, others won’t be bothered and will be looking forward to the other content coming with Season 2. For example, we know that the popular MW2 map Rust is coming to Modern Warfare with Season 2, though it’s unclear if it will be available at launch on February 11 or if it will be added a little later in the season.

With Modern Warfare Season 2 kicking off on February 11, it’s likely that a proper trailer will release on February 10. Fans should stay tuned for more information on Rust, Ghost, and what else Season 2 will have to offer.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
