A recent post in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare subreddit accrued almost 30,000 upvotes recently. The post’s title is “Dear Santa”  followed by a trophy and a Santa emoji, while the post itself is a photo comprised of four past Call of Duty map images. In effect, it’s a post asking Santa, or more likely Infinity Ward, to release updated versions of the four maps for Christmas. Modern Warfare fans would probably be happy just to have the maps confirmed for the new year, too.

There are four maps in the Reddit post, each of them beloved classics in the Call of Duty franchise. The first is Highrise, a Modern Warfare 2 map set atop an in-construction skyscraper. Second is Afghan, another Modern Warfare 2 map, this time set in a large Afghanistan desert area perfect for sniping gameplay. Third is Favela, also a Modern Warfare 2 map, set in the tiered buildings of Rio de Janeiro. The fourth map is unsurprisingly also a Modern Warfare 2 map, perhaps the most popular Modern Warfare 2 map of all. It’s terminal, the airport-based map based on the game’s No Russian campaign mission.

Whether Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 just happens to be the most popular multiplayer iteration of the franchise or the original Reddit poster just happens to be a fan of the game, the post was extremely popular. Other maps mentioned in the comments include Estate and Rust, to add some diversity.

Infinity Ward acknowledging the post seems unlikely, as Modern Warfare still has plenty of DLC planned and no one wants to spoil the studio’s plans. One of the Reddit commenters also made an interesting point, which is if Activision plans to release a remastered version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 soon they can’t be adding these maps to the new Modern Warfare game. After all, they’d be the remastered game’s selling point. Regardless, enjoying some nostalgia for games past is always fun.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
