Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer is currently free for the weekend ending on April 27th. Players will be able to download the multiplayer mode of the game and play a limited playlist of game modes and maps. Call of Duty: Warzone is still free-to-play and created loadouts and gun ranks will transfer over to multiplayer and vice versa. Even if Warzone is a player’s preferred game, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer will give players more of a chance to use custom loadouts and level up guns more quickly.

Call of Duty recently released a surprise update on April 22nd that addresses many of the game’s bugs and glitches. As season three rolls on, there have been plenty of changes to both the multiplayer and Warzone that has greatly improved gameplay. Call of Duty featured a free multiplayer weekend back at the beginning of April, and a couple updates have already been released that add content and address issues like cheating and game mechanic exploitation. As the game is polished with each update, more and more players join in and the free weekend is sure to attract game purchases.
Unfortunately for free players, they will not be able to choose the newest playlist and game mode added. Included in one of the updates is the return of the Cranked game mode and a new playlist called Cabin Fever that is packed full of action. However, the free limited playlist will feature Shoot House, one of the smaller maps that is also in the Cabin Fever playlist.
The free limited playlist will allow for 6 vs. 6 and large 10 vs. 10 lobbies and will have the maps Aniyah Incursion, Hovec Sawmill, Khandor Hideout, Shoot House, and Talsik Backlot. Three of the maps are new to season 3 and have been very well received by current players. These maps will give a sense of variety of gameplay and show players the difference between six player teams and 10 player teams.
New players will hopefully not have to deal with cheaters now that Call of Duty has addressed the massive problem. Their solution of having a cheater exclusive playlist could be effective, however, judgement of cheaters must be accurate or could place non-cheaters in the playlist, which would be terribly frustrating. However, they have also implemented a new player reporting tool to allow users to help in catching cheaters. With so many improvements and updates, there is many reasons to jump into the free multiplayer weekend.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
