For those unaware, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s season 4 just began not too long ago, and this update seeks to expand on what the season has to offer by including new multiplayer maps, weapons, game modes, and more. Fans should be able to begin enjoying it as soon as tonight.

It’s worth noting that this release time comes from the PlayStation Blog, and therefore the update may come out at slightly different times across different platforms, but everyone should be getting it at some point tonight. The update applies to both Modern Warfare and Warzone, so both groups of players should be satisfied.
Among the many new things coming in the update, Sony highlights the addition of a 200 player Warzone mode, which is 50 more players than the game could previously handle. Alongside talking about this, it also gives player some tips for adjusting to the new increased player count given that the size of Verdansk has not changed. There are also some new features coming to Warzone such as the Supply Run Contracts which give discounts at buy stations and the new Spotter Scope.
On the Modern Warfare side, fans are treated to a new sniper rifle called the Rytec AMR. This brute of a rifle fires .50 caliber rounds and must be unlocked via an in game challenge. This is reminiscent of the in game challenge to unlock the Kali Sticks, a concept which was received well. There is also a new map, Cheshire Park, and a new game mode to play as well. Team Defender was first introduced in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and sees players attempting to capture and protect a flag for as long as possible. This is an interesting twist on the traditional capture the flag game mode and should provide players some interesting challenges.
Whether it is Warzone or Modern Warfare, players will have some new stuff to do tonight at 11 PM PST. Hopefully Infinity Ward remembers to also pay attention to the numerous bugs reported by players on a regular basis as well, but new content is never a bad thing.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
