This was proven in a video by Reddit user MuckinAround145, who tested the Modern Warfare riot shield against all of the game’s lethal killstreaks. Out of 15 Modern Warfare killstreaks, the riot shield helped players survive nine of them. Some of the killstreaks that were still able to kill players even when they had a riot shield equipped included Cluster Strikes, Care Packages, and Precision Airstrikes.

This video shows that, when in the right hands, riot shields can be hugely effective in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. In fact, the game’s early days were defined by overpowered riot shield loadouts that saw players dominate multiplayer match-ups by using both riot shields and the infamously OP 725 shotgun.

Riot shields aren’t seen quite as often in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare as they used to be, but they still get used, even in the Warzone battle royale mode. In fact, when an entire Warzone team has riot shields, it can make it extremely difficult for other players to deal any damage to them, especially in close quarters.

It will be interesting to see if Modern Warfare riot shields will become more relevant to the meta at some point in the future. After all, Infinity Ward is regularly updating Modern Warfare with new content and balance changes, so it’s possible that a future update could make them much more useful than they are now. If so, fans could see a lot more Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players running around with riot shields online.

New weapons added to the game could also shake up the meta, and Modern Warfare Season 4 is expected to add at least a couple of new guns to the mix. Rumors are that revamped versions of the Vector SMG and the Galil are coming to Modern Warfare soon, so fans should keep an eye out.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
