The latest Call of Duty: Warzone update removes helicopters from the game. The Warzone May 5 update patch notes specify from “battle roylae,” but it appears as though the helicopter has been removed from all Warzone game modes, Blood Money included. Infinity Ward has not offered a reason as to why helicopters have been removed from Call of Duty: Warzone, but there is one explanation that seems the most likely.

There is a new bug associated with Warzone helicopters that let players glitch into parts of the map. From this vantage point, players are able to shoot at others, but can’t take any damage themselves, basically making them invincible and guaranteeing a victory. It’s possible that Infinity Ward is temporarily disabling helicopters from Call of Duty: Warzone so that it can fix this issue and then re-introduce them at some point down the line.

Then again, it’s also possible that Infinity Ward has removed helicopters from Call of Duty: Warzone as a way to better balance the game. Perhaps the studio felt as though helicopters were too overpowered and needed adjusted. This wouldn’t be the first time that Infinity Ward removed vehicles from Warzone for balance reasons, with Cargo Trucks removed from Solos entirely for a time due to them being overpowered and overused.

Luckily for those who enjoy helicopters in Call of Duty: Warzone, there’s a chance that they won’t have to wait too long for them to be added back to the game. Warzone updates come out almost every Tuesday, so it’s possible that helicopters will be added back as early as next week. Sometimes Infinity Ward releases special updates throughout the week as well, so fans may not even have to wait that long to get their helicopters back.

In any case, it’s unlikely that Infinity Ward intends to keep helicopters out of Warzone on a permanent basis. New Warzone cosmetic bundles include helicopter skins, so fans can expect them to be added back to the game at some point down the line.

Call of Duty: Warzone is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
