Activision has already detailed an impressive array of new features, like Call of Duty: Warzone 2’s underwater combat, updated movement mechanics, AI-controlled strongholds, and a new DMZ mode that will be separate from the main battle royale mode. These should add impressive layers to the first game’s well-received gameplay, but alongside the additional elements, players would like to see a few fixes to existing aspects to make sure Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is the best it can be.

More Depth And Weapon Choices
As well as obvious improvements that every sequel should address, like better visuals and improved framerates, many players are hoping that Call of Duty: Warzone 2 adds a little something extra to its gameplay. The first game was received positively by fans and critics alike, with many praising Call of Duty: Warzone’s adaption of popular battle royale elements to create a unique experience in addition to its impressively designed areas and unique Gulag feature.
However, there are some aspects that could do with a little work to avoid feeling shallow, like weapon variety. Many of the arms on offer feel too traditional and straightforward, especially in comparison to similar battle royales like Fortnite and Apex Legends. While this makes sense for a more grounded Call of Duty experience, a wider array of weaponry with real thought as to why it’s there, how it balances combat, and what purpose it could serve would still help to distinguish Call of Duty: Warzone 2 from its competitors while making it more creative and fun.
Community Events
In addition to more options when it comes to weaponry to flesh out the game, Call of Duty: Warzone 2 needs to make sure it has lots to offer its player base in terms of live events. Having an engaged community is crucial when it comes to online games, and frequent, diverse live events are one way to create that. Call of Duty: Warzone did occasionally include live events or add some points of interest to its map for players to interact with, but these occurrences weren’t extensive or regular enough.
Call of Duty: Warzone 2 needs to be an evolving, engaging, and active experience if it wants to compete with other battle royales and improve upon its predecessor, and getting players to jump back in for specific community events means that it can achieve this while staying relevant. Rewarding players for re-engaging also needs to be a consideration, even if it’s just cosmetic items and similar perks.
More Interactive Environments And A Map Creator
Call of Duty: Warzone had an impressive variety of maps, including some memorable locations inspired by previous games. The maps are not only varied, but they’re also massive and in many cases stunning, especially compared to other online multiplayer titles that simply offer players cut-and-paste environments with little originality. Call of Duty: Warzone 2 already looks like it’s building on this legacy in interesting ways, but there are some other tweaks the next game could make.
Map rotations can be pretty limited in a standard battle royale, and even though Call of Duty: Warzone had some good areas for players to explore, these can quickly get old when they have to play through the same ones again and again. One way to alleviate map fatigue would be to make the environments more interactive and allow gamers to get much more destructive. Being able to impact structures and elements of the environment would lead to bigger changes in the areas players operate in, and could require them to be much more tactical in their approaches to combat. Including some kind of map creator to Call of Duty: Warzone 2 would also add a wider variety of maps on offer and ensure players stay engaged, with a lot less long-term effort required from the development team.
