Unfortunately, the Call of Duty: Warzone nuke event was marred by technical issues. Server problems made it difficult for many Call of Duty: Warzone players to get into the game and see the nuke event for themselves. And since the Destruction of Verdansk - Part 1 was only available to Call of Duty: Warzone players for a limited time, it’s safe to say that there are people who completely missed out on the event.

Later today, the second part of the Destruction of Verdansk event is expected to go live in the game. So for those who need to catch up on what exactly happened in the first part of the event, here is what went down.
Zombies
This past week, radiation started to spread across Verdansk, and if players died in the radiation, they were transformed into zombies. During the Destruction of Verdansk - Part 1, radiation continued to be a presence at various named locations on the map, and players continued to turn into zombies. However, the difference was that they no longer needed to die in the radiation to transform.
This turned the usual Warzone life and death dynamic on its head. Instead of players dying and going to fight it out in the Gulag for a chance at revival, they would instead be turned into one of the undead. As zombies, players were then able to stay in the match indefinitely and try to hunt down their fellow players, with the goal of turning all of them into zombies before the exfil helicopter could arrive.
Exfil
What played out basically was a revamped version of a typical Warzone match, without many of the bells and whistles that fans usually expect from the mode, like the gas cloud, Buy Stations, or anything like that. Loot was restricted to shotguns, some killstreaks, armor, and SMGs, and players spawned into the map with shotguns instead of pistols. They were then free to go wherever they want, with many players trying to hide out near Dam.
The reason for this is that the exfil helicopter would arrive on the frozen lake in front of Dam. When the exfil was ready, a countdown timer would start, seeing any living players left alive rush to the helicopter with hordes of zombies on their tail.
After that, the nuke went off, destroying Verdansk. Fans will find out later today what happens next.
Call of Duty: Warzone is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
