Modern Warfare’s next season begins today, and with it has come a new operator in the form of Modern Warfare 2’s Ghost, new maps and multiplayer modes, and a new battle pass to grind out. For the most part, it seems Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players are backing out of lobbies when they have to play Vacant. Shipment is a much smaller map, resulting in immediate action, whereas Vacant is a more traditional Call of Duty multiplayer map. Loadouts are a relatively new system in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare that lets players customize weapons. Attaching different items to a weapon can give stat bonuses or just make a player’s gun look unique. Call of Duty: Vanguard is Sledgehammer Games’ third entry in Activision’s long-running series with the studio serving as the lead developer. It takes the series back to World War 2 as players fill the boots of a special forces unit sent into Germany to stop a secret plot from within the Nazi ranks to ensure the Reich survives. Warzone also received an update with the addition of Caldera, an island in the Pacific Ocean serving as the third map for the battle royale mode alongside Verdansk and Rebirth Island....

Cheating in video games is nothing new, particularly when it comes to online multiplayer games. But the issue has become increasingly problematic since battle royale games started dominating the multiplayer space and one of its biggest victims is the Call of Duty franchise. This resulted in Raven Software implementing Ricochet, its own kernel-level anti-cheating system. Since implementation, the system has managed to ban waves of cheaters. In March alone, Ricochet banned 90,000 cheaters from Call of Duty: Warzone....

There isn’t much information regarding this year’s CoD, with only rumors of a second Call of Duty: World War 2 subtitled ‘Vanguard’ floating around. Call of Duty World War 2 was developed by Sledgehammer games and released in 2017, receiving mixed critical reviews and overall low-ranking scores for a Call of Duty title. With Cold War also being met with a lukewarm reception, Activision may be in the position of being carried by Warzone’s incredible popularity for another year....

Call of Duty: Vanguard’s beta featured its fair share of issues, from broken spawns to Attack Dogs that turned on the player who called them in. Audio mixing was rough, with footsteps unable to be heard over the loud game volume, and visibility was a major problem. However, a vast majority of these problems were fixed leading into the full release of the game, and players have started to throw praise Sledgehammer’s way due to just how much the game has improved....

Players aren’t limited to traversing the expansive Call of Duty battle royale maps on foot, since multiple different types of vehicles are available in Warzone 2, from ATVs and trucks to helicopters and patrol boats. While some vehicles come with weapons mounted, others rely on passengers to use their own guns to score kills. Of course, opportunistic operators can also go for the vehicular kills, using the bulk of their chosen ride to run over enemies and take them out without firing a single bullet....

The official Call of Duty Twitter account made the Warzone Report feature available earlier today. The report, which can be obtained by replying to the Twitter account’s Warzone Report post with the player’s Activision account name/number, contains stats such as kill/death ratio, hours played, number of games played, and wins, all neatly packaged onto a virtual card. Players were already able to view the stats in-game and on a few websites, but the Report feature allows them to easily share the information with their friends on Twitter....

SBMM is traditionally well-accepted when used in ranked multiplayer queues. That’s where players, whether it’s in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 or elsewhere, are trying their hardest to improve their ability and climb the rankings. It’s in casual modes that have SBMM enabled where there are larger arguments and no clear answers. Players see casual multiplayer modes as parts of a game where they don’t have to play so seriously, but without SBMM it’s also true that lower-skill players will struggle to find any success....

There are a wide variety of killstreaks and field upgrades in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and they can often turn the tide of a match if used at the right time. Killstreaks are a long-time staple of the Call of Duty series, and players can unlock them by getting a certain amount of kills without dying. Field upgrades are a newer addition, only being added in 2019, and they charge up over time, but can be sped up by getting kills or completing objectives....

Unlockable camo skins for player weapons have been a feature of the franchise since the first Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in 2007. Traditionally, players have to complete weapons-specific challenges, such as “get 50 headshots” or “score 250 assists” with each weapon to unlock increasingly rare camo designs. Key attachments make weapon challenges easier, but Modern Warfare 2’s new Gunsmith system makes unlocking weapon attachments take longer than ever before and as a result, completing weapon-specific challenges for new skins is also taking longer....

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, as mentioned above, is the sequel in the rebooted series from Infinity Ward and picks up from the end of the 2019 game’s campaign. The sequel follows Task Force 141, headed by Captain John Price, as they investigate a potential terrorist threat operating in tandem with a notorious Mexican drug cartel, forcing the team to join forces with an elite Mexican special forces unit....

Typically, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare updates its playlist early in the week and this week was no different. However, after some feedback from the fans, Infinity Ward has decided to change things up.
